14-day Yin Challenge

/ March 26, 2023/ Holistic Nutrition, Yoga

I signed up for a 14 Day Yin challenge with INEA yoga. They email every day a pose to practice for 5 to 10 min. It is a great way to bring freshness and constancy to a yoga practice.

I have been struggling with constancy with my personal practice. So, I am hoping this challenge helps me stay motivated to practice yoga every day. Lately, with more work and projects, it is easier to forgo the time for practice when in reality practice gives me more time. I know that and yet.. I fall into old habits. I am human afterall.

On average, it takes more 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behavior, the person, and the circumstances. In Phillippa Lally’s study, it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new habit. So it will take more than 14 days to solidify a daily yoga practice but it is a good start…

Usually 14 day challenges are designed to take a short time so it is easier to make the time for it. I am actually practicing longer than 5 to 10 minutes required. First, I practice my own grounding, stretching and warming up sequence before I play the video to practice the pose. After that, I play with props to try the different options suggested and then I am taking pictures to share the new options I learned and the options I have been using in my classes. I am posting this pictures in Instagram. If you like to follow my progress, see YogawithAmyris.

I posted a video in my Youtube Channel with some of the poses modifications I learned and some that I came up with by playing around.
